Lilia Bachinskaya, a woman in her 44th year, found out she was pregnant once more in the spring of 2019.
She and her husband Anatoly wished to have a daughter despite the fact that she was already the mother of three boys.
During an ultrasound, Lilia’s pregnancy with Siamese twins was confirmed for Anatoly and her.

The doctors advised against attempting to separate the infants since their skulls were fused together.
Despite the challenges she faced, Lilia decided to bring the pregnancy to term because she was confident that everything would turn out okay in the end.

The twin daughters Abigail and Mikaela (also known as Abi and Mika) were born on December 30, 2019, still connected at the head.
Further research, however, revealed that the common brain regions were constrained, providing hope that they might be able to successfully split.

At a children’s facility in California, the procedure to separate the twins was slated to take place in October 2020.
Immediately after the twins were born, the procedure’s preparations began, and after nine months of planning, the operation was carried out.

The girls were successfully separated after twenty-four hours of arduous work and a team of thirty doctors,
and they both survived the experience in good health. The operation gave the identical twins a brand-new start in life.
Lilia stayed in the clinic with the kids for the roughly six months it needed for them to adjust to their new environment.

About two years after their split, Abi and Mika are doing well in the modern world. They are now lagging in terms of development, but they are catching up quickly.
The doctors are confident that even though the girls still need a few more cosmetic procedures, it will be impossible for them to remember that they were formerly joined as conjoined twins in a few years.
A second kid, a healthy boy who was named Adam, was also safely born by Lilia toward the end of the previous year.

Ultimately, Lilia’s decision to carry the pregnancy to term against the advice of the medical community was a success.
What are your thoughts on the choice she made?
