Life offers some rewards that are well worth the wait. Two teens who were once inseparable in the 1950s
have rediscovered one other in their 80s, opening the path for a wonderful second shot at happiness in this inspiring story of love conquering time.
Eddie Lamm and Caroline Reeves, who were high school sweethearts whose paths parted decades ago, are now

traveling together on a voyage of love that has lasted 63 years. Early in June 2023, she turned 82, and she was joined by her first love.
Reeves and Lamm had a remarkable bond in 1956, a year when President Dwight D. Eisenhower was in charge of

the country and Elvis Presley ruled the radio. When Lamm first met Reeves, he remembered being completely taken off his feet and her praising him as the cutest boy on campus.
However, their young romance ended abruptly, leaving them with unsettled emotions. Lamm struggled to properly
say goodbye because he wanted to join the U.S. Air Force after high school to follow his aviation goals. Their final interaction was a loving kiss in

her driveway, which unwittingly signaled the end of their romantic interactions for the following 60 years.
Reeves remembers that night clearly because she had planned to get his class ring as his declaration of eternal love.
She told CBS This Morning that after Lamm told him he was leaving to serve the country, she was so overcome with sorrow that she slammed the car door shut, never looked back, and grieved all night.
