At the age of 89, an elderly pizza delivery man who works 30-hour weeks is moved to tears after learning what was done for him…

Carlos Valdez and his family always go to the same Papa John’s in their Utah neighborhood when they are wanting pizza.

While the pizza is consistently outstanding, the 89-year-old employee of the branch who always greeted

them with ‘Hello, are you looking for some pizza?’ whenever he made the delivery definitely stood out.

Like many elderly people, Newey discovered that his pension was just insufficient to pay his monthly expenses,

so he returned to work as a pizza delivery driver after retiring. Dewey punched in and out of the Papa John’s he worked at for around 30 hours a week despite being in his golden years.

Derlin Newey, a delivery driver, was so inspiring to the Valdez family that they decided to share welcome videos with their 53,000 TikTok followers via their channel @vendingheads.

The community reacted positively when Valdez decided to repay Newey’s kindness after seeing the films showing his generosity and friendliness amassed such a large following.

It’s crazy. He is adored by everyone, Valdez told CNN.

The Valdez family started addressing him by name whenever they needed pizza delivered because they always appreciated his interactions with them.

Newey was adored by their TikTok fans as well, but inquiries regarding his continued employment as a pizza delivery driver poured in.

Someone that age shouldn’t be working so hard, according to Valdez.

The Valdez family was motivated by this to invite their followers to help put together a delightful surprise for Newey in September 2020.

They requested any donations people could make for Newey in the hopes of surprising him with a collective

‘tip’ of a few hundred dollars, but they quickly discovered they were in for a surprise as well.

The Valdez family solicited donations from their followers, and they ultimately raised a lot more money for Newey than they initially anticipated.

Valdez told KSL 5 TV, ‘We all got together as a community and we were able to donate over $12,000 for this beautiful guy.

This time, Valdez, his wife, and their daughter found themselves knocking on Newey’s door with a delivery of their own, complete with a check signed by the ‘TikTok Family.’

The surprise was captured on camera and posted on Twitter with the caption:

‘To make ends meet, 89-year-old Derlin Newey began delivering pizzas. He had no idea that one of his clients would completely alter his business.

The surprise was completely unknown to Newey, a single man, and he was also unfamiliar with TikTok as an app. He asked in the video, ‘You talk to each other on the phone? ‘

When the Valdez family handed Newey the check, she started crying. The question is, ‘How do I ever say thank you?’ Through tears, Newey fought to speak. I am at a loss for words.

The Valdez family and Newey were both moved by the community’s generosity; Newey even made the joke, ‘There’s hope!’

The entire experience for Valdez not only met but also exceeded his expectations.

He said in the video, ‘This couldn’t have gone any better,’ and added, ‘He needed this. I’m just happy we were able to assist him.

We simply need to behave toward others in a courteous and respectful manner, like he does. He abducted our affection.
