Grandson restored grandfather’s ‘Chevrolet’ 57 years old he almost fell when he removed the bandage from his eyes and saw a gift

An elderly man nearly fainted recently after receiving a birthday present from his grandson. Cam Didman

spent a year restoring his grandfather’s favorite car, a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air, hiding it from him.

The car has been rusting in Fred Lamar’s garage for many years, going back to the mid-70s. She looked quite unimportant, so she needed a major overhaul.

However, Cam did not skimp on money or time, and as a result, the old lady now looks even better than immediately after graduation.

In a Facebook post, Didman talked about how much he appreciates his grandfather and how he decided to fix his car to give him a nice birthday present.

The job turned out to be not easy, and it was even more difficult to keep everything a secret from the respected old man.

Cam says he even had to sell his own car in order to have enough money for repairs, but he began saving up for this project a few years ago, according to ABC News.

Grandfather and grandson often discussed this car and that it would be nice to fix it, but, unfortunately, Cam never had enough time for this.

Together they did not have a chance to work on the car. Nevertheless, Didman proudly reports that

he managed to do it himself, and at the very time in order to be in time for his grandfather’s 81st birthday.

In early 2020, Cam got into a restored car and drove it out of the garage, and then went to his sister.

The whole family gathered there, who were informed of the surprise and asked to be blindfolded to further enhance the dramatic effect of the return of their beloved car.

When the grandfather’s blindfold was removed, he simply could not believe what he saw and even burst into tears.

Didman told ABC News that he did not expect such a strong reaction from the old man, and that he even had to support him when his eyes began to blacken.

After recovering, the grandfather said that he simply could not believe that this car was once his old Chevrolet.

The car was once used by all of Fred’s family. At one time, he even drove the mother of a then-boy named Cam and his other household members on it.

Fred has never been given a better gift in his long life. In an interview with ABC News, he said that

he simply could not believe his eyes, and that he was very glad that he had such a good grandson.
