Can you imagine being separated from your family? Could you imagine being separated from your loved ones
after you went through terrible trials in your homeland and decided to go in search of a new life?
That’s what happened to Diane. He and his family left the village they had called home all their lives and traveled to the United States
in search of a better future. Their village in Sudan was destroyed. Diane and his wife Alik traveled to a refugee camp in Africa for the first time.

According to The North Hill, the tragedy occurred when the couple were separated amid the chaos in the refugee camps.
Diane was completely cut off from his wife Alik and children. What’s worse is that the document certifying
their marriage, which would have allowed Diane to be reunited with his family, has been destroyed.

At that time, Alik was pregnant with her third child. In the refugee camp, she was recorded as a single mother with two children.
With no information about his family, Diane was listed as an unmarried man a category that usually falls at the bottom of the list of favorites for resettlement in the United States.
Meanwhile, Alik and her children traveled to Fort Worth, Texas with no idea if they would ever see Diane again.
In Fort Worth, the family met Molly and Marie Claire. The two mothers volunteered for a refugee agency called Catholic Charities.
The American women immediately felt sympathy for Alik and her family and were even present at her birth.

Diane was in a refugee camp wondering if he would ever see his family again. His youngest child was 3 years old Diane never met him.
Molly and Marie Claire fought for family reunification, even reaching out to politicians and immigration lawyers.
Finally, four years after being separated from his family, Diane was able to reunite with them in 2012 at Dallas Fort Worth Airport.
Seeing his family, Diane immediately fell to his knees, overwhelmed with joy.
