The actress Kristin Davis, who played Charlotte York in ‘Sex and the City’ and its follow-up, ‘And Just Like That,’
recently talked about her experience of adopting her children after she was already a mother. In her
58-year-old reflection on parenting, Davis said she has no regrets about having children later in life.
On June 23, 2023, Davis made an appearance on ‘Today with Hoda & Jenna’ and talked about her experience becoming a mother in her 40s and 50s.
She claimed that because she wasn’t emotionally or mentally prepared to be a mother early in her life, there was no other way it could have happened until much later.

Davis has two adopted black children. Gemma Rose was adopted domestically by the actress in 2011, becoming her first child.
She made the choice after realizing that she sincerely desired to have children despite never having a committed romantic relationship.
At age 38, Davis sensed the passing of time and a strong yearning to have children. Gemma’s adoption was kept a secret,
and until the adoption was finalized, Davis didn’t talk about the procedure or the name she had picked.
Fans of Kristin’s character Charlotte’s daughter Rose speculated about Gemma Rose’s middle name because they both shared it.
Kristin clarified in an interview that she didn’t know Rose was related to her on-screen child, just that she thought the name Rose was lovely.
Davis added a son named Wilson through adoption in 2018. She noted that having a son was a different experience and that
because of the age difference between her children, she had to take into account their various demands in ‘Live With Kelly and Ryan’ in 2020.

No, I don’t because I adore my kids, Davis replied in reference to having children later in age. ‘I don’t believe I was prepared (before). In my mind and emotions, I wasn’t there yet.
Davis feels it is her duty as a white mother of two African American children to further her education and give Gemma and Wilson a sense of community.
She has highlighted the value of conducting research, forging connections, and making sure her kids have access.
Kristin has taken proactive steps to recognize and prepare for any difficulties her children may have as a result of their race.
Fostering a strong sense of self-esteem and pride for her children is part of Davis’ commitment to provide a pleasant environment for them.
She frequently gives Gemma words of affirmation, praising the beauty of her hair, the color of her skin, and her all-around toughness.

The loving mother has also made an effort to include representation in her children’s daily lives
through magazines and other media, as well as to introduce her kids to great Black role models like Serena Williams.
In a 2019 ‘Red Table Talk’episode, Davis discussed her obligation to conduct research, engage in outreach efforts,
and forge connections to guarantee her children have a connection to the Black community. She recognized that
having raised Black children has given her a more acute awareness of prejudice and the difficulties that they might encounter.
Davis puts her children’s welfare first while managing her acting career, including the most recent ‘Sex and the City’ revival.
In order to spend time with her kids while filming, the actress takes a weekend flight home, emphasizing the value of striking a balance between business and personal life.
‘Except for this position, I would never agree to a job where I would be gone for so long. I love this job,’ she said, alluding to ‘And Just Like That.’
