Veterans Day and Memorial Day mean more to Americans than just one or two days off from school and work.
These are the days when they thank the men and women who have served and are serving for the good of their country in the armed forces.
In particular, Memorial Day is meant to honor those who gave their lives so that Americans can continue to enjoy the freedom and lifestyle that makes their country great.

Twenty-six-year-old Todd Weaver went on his second deployment to Afghanistan in 2010. His wife Emma, with whom he had been married for two years,
and their nine-month-old daughter were left to wait for him. The couple have been exchanging emails and video chatting to keep in touch during these challenging times.
Lieutenant Weaver died tragically on September 9, 2010 from an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) shortly before his scheduled return home.
The remains of the deceased soldier were sent back to America, and Lieutenant Weaver was buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.

By the will of fate, the last place that Lieutenant Weaver visited before his assignment was this cemetery.
At his funeral, Weaver was honored with a purple heart, a bronze star, and a number of other recognitions for his service.
The funeral took place less than a year after his last visit to the cemetery.
The laptop that Lieutenant Weaver used in Afghanistan was given to his wife, Emma. Two days after her husband’s funeral, she turned on her computer.
It was easy to find two Word documents in the control panel of the computer. One of them was a letter for Emma. The second document was a letter addressed to their young daughter, Kylie.
Emma’s letter began by saying that if she ever reads it, it means he hasn’t returned home. He wrote that he would

love his wife and daughter forever, and that death could not separate them, because he would always watch over them from heaven.
Lieutenant Weaver showed the nobility of the soul, urging his wife to live to the fullest and enjoy every day. He confessed that he could not wish for a better wife than Emma.
The lieutenant expressed his boundless love for his daughter, Kylie, and pride in her. He asked her to always be kind to others and promised that the world would reciprocate her kindness.
He apologized to his daughter for not being able to watch her transition into adulthood, but expressed confidence that her future would be bright.
