To get out of debt related to his housing, a man by the name of Jason decided to build himself a studio apartment on wheels.
Before deciding to go graduate school for urban planning, Jason used to share a spacious house with five other people.
He understood that this mid-career transition would force him to reside in big cities with expensive rents,
so he came up with a scheme to avoid them. Jason wanted a quiet place to call home where he could feel safe. Luckily, he found an appropriate vehicle on Craiglist: a used 2004 Ford E-350 box truck.

The car is 8 feet wide and 15 feet long. The fact that it already had a pass-through from the cab to the rear gave him a wonderful loft area was even better.
Jason hired a friend to help with the design and some of the more challenging parts, but he built the majority of the structure by himself.
He essentially wanted a mobile home that could be parked wherever and had an exterior that resembled
a work truck. At the beginning of 2021, Jason moved into the portable van known as the ‘Stealth Studio.’

He’s been loving it so far because it allows him to live in the city without having to pay expensive rent.
Jason typically parks his car for four to seven days and then commutes about town on his bike or by taking
public transportation. He only uses the van occasionally, so the truck’s poor gas mileage is not a deal-breaker.

Jason heats the truck with a 12-gallon fuel tank that was placed under the back of the vehicle. While in the mountains,
he can use a window to get some natural light and enjoy the view. Jason made the glass look like a vent because the car was created for hidden urban living.

Under his bed is a pull-out storage space. Jason likes to cook, so he designed his kitchen with lots of surface space
and convenient access to his favorite appliances. Additionally, he has a large sink, an induction cooktop, a microwave, and a small refrigerator.
