It’s typical to anticipate cakes and presents from some of your closest friends and family members if you celebrate your birthday every year.

However, other folks are unfortunate enough not to even enjoy the celebration because they needed to work to make ends meet.

Leo Rivas, a veteran who didn’t have any significant birthday plans and hadn’t had a birthday cake in a while,

was fortunate to receive the surprise of a lifetime from his coworkers, which caused him to scream tears of pleasure as shown in a video posted on TikTok in July 2023.

The elderly guy claimed in an interview with WZZM 13 that as a part-time dishwasher at Big E’s Sports Grill in Holland, Michigan, he spent the most of his time working in a sink.

The former veteran has previously served the country twice.

Noemi Feliciano, better known as MiiMii, his boss, said that Rivas had been a great coworker because he loved to surprise them with a bag of candy every single day.

Then Feliciano discussed the major surprise. It’s hardly surprising that she did something kind for the veteran

because she informed the media outlet that she frequently bakes cakes whenever a member of the restaurant staff celebrates a birthday.

On the day he turned 64, the supervisor and her coworkers made the decision to surprise him while he was cleaning the dishes.

As can be seen in the video, Rivas broke down and cried as soon as she saw the strawberry-topped cake with the words ‘Happy Birthday Leo.’

He continued to shield his eyes owing to the intense emotions as the employees sang and greeted him on this wonderful occasion.

Feliciano clarified that she included the strawberry as a decorative because she was aware that Rivas liked the fruit.

‘Everyone, including the servers, was behind her, and it just, it took me to tears… I’m still trying to accept it while on cloud nine,’ he stated.

It had also been ‘a long time’ since he had received cake, according to Rivas, who expressed his gratitude to his coworkers for surprising him with one.

The veteran now has a lasting core memory since he thought it was ‘one of the best birthdays in a long time.’

The boss not only gave him the surprise of his life, but also created a GoFundMe website to collect money for Rivas.

I knew he hadn’t had a birthday cake in a while after talking to him before his birthday. So I made a surprise

birthday cake for him and sang him a happy birthday with everyone else,’ she stated in the description.

In an update video on Rivas that was posted in August 2023, the manager personally thanked the millions of viewers who had seen his internet response.

He also expressed his appreciation for all the support he had received from the online community.

He simply wanted to express his sincere gratitude for the birthday donations received.

Rivas made a jest at the end of the video, telling the ‘single ladies’ viewers that he was ‘very available.’
