After nearly three decades of marriage, Hugh Jackman and Deborra Lee-Furness have divorced: ‘Our journey now is shifting, and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.’

The relationship between Hugh Jackman and Deborra Lee-Furness is ending.

After 27 years of marriage, the former couple, who wed in 1996 just a year after meeting on the set of an Australian TV series, announced their decision to divorce.

In a joint statement on September 15, the couple said, ‘We have been blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage.’

We have decided to separate in order to pursue our individual growth because our journey is changing right now.

Oscar, 23, and Ava, 18, are Hugh and Deborra’s children. They said, ‘Our family has been and always will be our primary concern.

We begin the following chapter with a spirit of thanks, love, and kindness. As our family navigates

this adjustment in our lives, we sincerely appreciate your understanding and respect for our privacy.

After meeting on the set of Cornelli, where they reportedly had an instant connection, their long-lasting romance officially began.

In a September 2020 episode of Anh’s Brush With Fame, Deborra said, ‘I feel blessed that I experienced that I feel like I met my soulmate, whatever that is.

She continued, ‘You can really stand buck naked when you have a partner in crime that you share and grow with—because life is tough,

as we know it, it’s not always good—and when you have someone there that is so supportive. You need to. Hugh concurred that it was love at first sight.

‘My first job out of drama school—it was a massive break for me,’ the Emmy winner admitted to Jess Cagle on People TV in 2017.

‘I was very afraid. Deb was a well-known actress. Deb is in the driver’s seat when I’m picked up. I won’t soon forget. I’m Deborra-Lee Furness, good to meet you.

She undid her seatbelt, turned around, held out her hand, and removed her sunglasses. I distinctly recall thinking, ‘I like this chick.

As in, the Tony Award winner saw their compatibility long before his future bride did.
He admitted as much on a 2018 episode of the Aussies in Hollywood podcast.

‘I knew very early,’ he claimed. ‘I knew before Deb knew, and I knew even when she tried to end our relationship.

Thank God I was able to convince her otherwise. You and Deb are well aware of the fact that I make a lot of rash decisions.

The number of times something has felt that clear to me in my life can be counted on one hand. I simply knew without a doubt.

Hugh wrote a touching message to his wife in 2021 for their 25th wedding anniversary, demonstrating how strong their love remained over the years.

The X-Men actor at the time stated in an Instagram post that ‘marriage to you Deb is as natural as breathing.’

‘I knew our destiny was to be together almost as soon as we met. Our love has only become more intense over the past 25 years.

The learning is even more profound; the joy, adventure, and excitement are more thrilling.
I’m eternally happy that we were able to share our family, our life, and our love. ‘We’re only getting started.’
