Recently, a couple in Austin, Texas, attained an admirable title that many will strive for but few will actually achieve.

With a combined age of 211 years, John Henderson, 106, and Charlotte Henderson, 105, have just broken the record for the oldest married couple in the world.

They will also commemorate their 80th wedding anniversary on December 15. Their story of love began in 1934 when they encountered one

other in a University of Texas seminar. They got married in December 1939, and their honeymoon was spent in a $7 hotel room.

What is the couple’s secret for their record-breaking marriage and longevity of over 100 years?

John stated that he maintains a moderate lifestyle in 2017. They never engage in unusual behavior

Eat nourishing foods. Good sleep. Avoid drinking too much alcohol. Moderate your eating. Do a lot of exercise as well.

John is the senior member of the longest married pair and the oldest surviving former UT football player.

The pair has also been to at least one UT football game every season for the previous 84 years.

Charlotte stated that they had a lovely time following John’s retirement.

They travelled a lot. They essentially never stop being busy, which is absolutely beneficial.

At Longhorn Village, a senior living community for UT employees and alumni, the pair now provides assistance.
