Dallas, Texas resident Suzelle Poole is live proof of that. Longer than she ever anticipated, the
79-year-old has been dancing for more than 70 years. She also has no immediate plans to stop working.

When she was just 7 years old, the native of London delved headfirst into the world of dance, and as her talent expanded over the ensuing years,
so did her devotion. Suzelle was indeed so talented that she went on to work as a professional performer all around the world!

Suzelle, however, was prepared for a brief career, as is the case with the majority of professional ballerinas.
I realized I just had a few years left when I was approximately 26 years old, she said. It’s just the way the art form is since the moves are so taxing on the human body.

Suzelle’s body didn’t degenerate at age 26 or even 56, though. Even injuries don’t stop her from performing as a
guest with regional dance companies for very long. She once fractured her arm, but by the following week, she was dancing once more.
At the Royale Ballet Dance Academy, where she and her pupils frequently perform for older citizens in
assisted living facilities, her current concentration is on training the next generation of ballerinas.

Suzelle has grown to be such an inspiration that CBS News journalist Steve Hartman recently flew to Dallas
with his 5-year-old daughter Meryl to interview her. The young girl who will one day become Steve’s wife was eager to meet and dance with her.

Suzelle informed Meryl during the interview that she doesn’t find it difficult to dance ‘when you’re old.’
A valuable piece of advice was also provided by her: ‘Ballet helps everything,’ she stated. When you attend a
ballet lesson when you’re feeling under the weather, you immediately feel better. Meryl only smiled and nodded in agreement.

Suzelle’s refusal to hang up her pointe shoes is understandable. Why would she abandon something that makes her feel so happy?
