‘Do-Re-Mi’ Julie Andrews Is Astounded By Her Sound of Music Children’s Sing-A-Long

Even if musicals aren’t for everyone, the legendary Sound of Music soundtrack made music history.

The soundtrack, which was first published in 1965 by the American record company RCA Victor, which also housed

some of our most significant musicians, such as Elvis Presley and Diana Ross, became the best-selling UK album of 1965, 1966, and 1968.

Naturally, none of this would be possible without the enduring voice of Julie Andrews, who played Maria Von Trapp and was the sole actress director Robert Wise considered for the part.

She and the Von Trapp kids gave a touching performance that was based on the real-life account from the 1949 book ‘The Story of the Trapp Family Singers.’

Dame Julie Andrews (who received the title in 2000) has had an incredible career, including roles in ‘Mary Poppins’

(for which she won the Academy Awards for ‘Best Actress’ in 1964 and the Golden Globe Awards for ‘Best Actress Motion Picture Comedy or Musical’

in 1965), ‘The Princess Diaries” as Queen Clarisse Renaldi, and the voice of Gru’s Mom in the ‘Despicable Me’ films.

It therefore came as little surprise when the illustrious actress received the 48th AFI Life Achievement Award on June 9 of this year.

The program honored her excellent job and praised the unbridled delight she offered to everyone.

Julie may be seen singing along to “Do-Re-Mi” in this wonderful footage from the presentation as the crowd reflects on her career.

The five performing Von Trapp children joined Julie for an impassioned chorus in a beautiful moment.

They were Nicholas Hammond, who played the role of Friedrich, a 14-year-old, Duane Chase, who played Kurt, an 11-year-old, Angela Cartwright,

Debbie Turner, who played Marta, a 7-year-old, and Kym Karath, who portrayed Gretl, the youngest Von Trap, a 5-year-old.
