Meryl Streep and Don Gummer are in a difficult situation right now.
According to a statement made by her spokeswoman to E! News, the long-term pair has broken up and has been living apart for several years.
‘Don Gummer and Meryl Streep have been separated for more than 6 years,’ according to the representative, ‘and while they will always care for each other, they have chosen lives apart.’
The artist and Academy Award winner hitched the wedding in 1978 and went on to have four children: Henry, who is now 43, Mamie, who is 40, Grace, who is 37, and Louisa, who is 32.
The married couple’s most recent appearance in public together was in 2018 during the Academy Awards.
Their romance spans several decades; in 1979, when they were just newlyweds, Gummer and Streep went together to see the Academy Awards for the first time.
The star of Mamma Mia! made amends for the fact that she was unable to express her gratitude to him when she

received the statue for Sophie’s Choice in 1983; nevertheless, she was able to do so when she brought home her third prize in 2012.
‘First, I’m going to thank Don,’ according to her, ‘because when you thank your husband at the end of the speech
they play him out with the music, and I want him to know that everything I value most in our lives, you’ve given me.’
The couple, who both attended Yale University, witnessed their daughters’ entrance into the Hollywood industry.
Mamie has appeared in The Good Fight, The Good Wife, and The Lifeguard; Grace has been in The Newsroom, American Horror Story, and Frances Ha; and Louisa has appeared in The Gilded Age.
Their son, who went by the stage name Henry Wolfe, followed music.
‘The fact that my mom is who she is can be overshadowing,’ Henry previously told The Daily News, as reported by People.
‘I fear that my tale isn’t good enough sometimes. Even though my mother is included in the story and I don’t mind when people ask me about her, I wish I had more fascinating storylines to choose from.
‘There are some assumptions that go along with that, which usually aren’t fair, like the recognition somehow helps me,’ he continued.
The fact that people begin to believe I don’t put in much effort and that they don’t take me seriously also hurts.

The Post, Into the Woods, The Iron Lady, The Devil Wears Prada, Out of Africa, and Kramer vs. Kramer were among
the films for which Streep, 74, received 21 Oscar nominations, setting a record for the most by an actor.
