When an Arby’s employee notices a lonely 97-year-old war veteran, he tries to give up his dinner.

Every day, a 97-year-old World War I veteran eats the same dish at his neighborhood Arby’s fast food restaurant.

Because they are constantly searching for the meat eater who comes in to place his “normal” order, the staff at the quick-service restaurant never miss a day of work.

Doug, a World War II veteran, became familiar with the staff, who became curious to know more about the man who showed up for work every day.

Following further information about this brave warrior and his story, they took an incredible action that touched people’s hearts across the nation.

Doug, a World War II veteran who is 97 years old, knows what makes him happy. Every day, he orders a senior

beverage and a roast-beef slider topped with Swiss cheese as his ‘normal’ dinner. I don’t have any ice in my Coke.

Many employees at the Chandler, Arizona eatery were interested in finding out more about the veteran because he has become such a fixture there.

The employees took a moment out of their hectic workdays to sit down and ask Doug some important questions.

The reporter from Fox 7 asked, ‘Hey, Mr. Doug, we just want to know what gets you coming back to this Arby’s location.’

In his reply, Doug reminded the staff of the transient nature of life and the value of savoring each moment while it is still here because it could all disappear at any moment.

The staff was prepared for a lighthearted remark along the lines of ‘Arby’s knows how to serve meat that he enjoys,’

but Doug instead reminded them of how fleeting life can be and how crucial it is to cherish what we have while it is still with us.

The financially strapped combat veteran described the Chandler Arby’s restaurant as “the only place I can

get a sandwich or get food or anything else to eat that doesn’t hurt my stomach.’ ‘My one and only sandwich shop.’

Doug’s stomach problem means that he orders the same food every time and sits at the same table to eat it.

‘He has a condition that affects his gastrointestinal system,’ stated Travis Coye, a coworker. Unfortunately, he can only eat this one meal at a time.

The restaurant’s manager, Christina Garnage, another employee, gave Fox News the following details:

As soon as we notice that he is approaching the doors in a wheelchair, we try to grab the doors for him.

Christina went on to say that Doug immediately adopted the daily schedule that she was in charge of when she started working at the restaurant around 32 months ago.

Christina asserts that Doug has been going to the same Arby’s restaurant virtually every day for more than two years.

She said, ‘He’s a veteran who’s been through a lot—coming in, living in a retirement home, but he doesn’t have family.’ ‘He handled everything by himself.’

Given that Doug had sacrificed his life for his nation during World War II, the crew decided to do something extra special for him. They presented him a $200 gift card.

You can get in touch with me at any time of day or night.A different manager said that the person was shocked and couldn’t think of anything to say.

The staff provided Doug their personal mobile phone numbers and told him he may call them anytime

of the day or night because he doesn’t have his own family to rely on for assistance. Doug lacks a network of family members to lean on.

They would even bring his favorite food to his house if he couldn’t make it to the restaurant for any reason.

However, Arby’s has decided to provide Doug free meals for the rest of his life, and this benefit will start

as soon as he utilizes the gift card he was given. The manager has now made Doug an offer that he cannot refuse.

One of the neighborhood’s eye doctors was stopping by the restaurant and gave Doug a free eye checkup and some glasses.

Doug has been all but forgotten since giving his life in the 1940s to protect his nation and the world; nevertheless,

one Arby’s restaurant in Arizona has done what the federal government ought to have done long ago: they have welcomed Doug into their family!

What a generous and considerate thing to do for this patriotic person who deserves a free supper because he has served his nation.

I find it encouraging that someone is taking care of this WWII veteran and giving him free food because, unlike most people, he has earned it.
