Audrey Hepburn is the greatest actress of her time. A legend that will forever remain in our hearts.
She always considered the main work of her life not to be cinema, but to work for UNICEF, an organization that helps children from all over the world.
Some even believed that she took their pain too close to her heart, which led to the great actress’s fatal illness.
Everyone has a childhood, but not everyone has the same.

Audrey was born in the spring of 1929, in the family of Ella and Joseph Hepburn. Since childhood, the baby had a weakness for sweets, especially chocolate,
which was very strictly criticized by her mother. According to Ella, the girl could not afford to weigh
more than 46 kg and Audrey remembered this lesson forever. Throughout her life, she managed to maintain a weight of 45 kg.
But all this happened later, in adulthood. And in her childhood, little Audrey often consumed chocolate with stress, which was caused by constant quarrels between her parents.
One day they went on a business trip, forgetting to congratulate their daughter on her birthday. Little Audrey
was broken and depressed, and soon began to refuse food altogether, due to the constant quarrels of her parents.
When she was only 6 years old, Audrey’s father left the family forever. She asked him to stay, shouted that she loved him, but he didn’t even look back.
Then her mother told her that love cannot be begged for. And this was the second, but not the last, invaluable lesson from her mother, which Audrey remembered for the rest of her life.
Education by war

Already in adulthood, Audrey often said that she was raised by the war and her mother, and it is not known which of them is stricter.
Nevertheless, the war greatly influenced the life of the future star. Having not yet fully recovered from her father’s betrayal, she was faced with real horror. The horror of war.
Just before the start of the war, Audrey’s mother took the children to Holland, to Arnhem. Her father’s estate was located nearby,
there were many acquaintances nearby, but the main thing was the confidence that Nazi Germany would not attack friendly neighbors. But she was wrong.
It took the Nazis only five days to capture the territories. Ahead of Audrey lay years of hardship, hunger and disease.
But she helped her mother, who joined the Resistance movement. She conveyed messages, because who would stop a child who was simply riding around the neighborhood on a bicycle.
Later, when the war was over, Audrey was proud of the fact that she helped the Resistance and could boldly look people in the eye.
However, the horrors of war, hunger, disease and deprivation greatly influenced the girl. To such an extent that when George Stevens offered her the role of Anne Frank, she flatly refused.
It was impossible for her to force herself to plunge into that terrible atmosphere again, even if it was fake.
I can’t let war defeat ballet

Hepburn
These were the words Audrey heard when she returned to dance class after the war. She was allowed to continue her studies in the ballet class, thereby bringing the girl back to life.
However, high growth and too little weight took their toll. Marie Rambert did not give her false hopes, directly stating that she would not become a prima.
So Audrey lost her dream. But she had no idea that small roles in the corps de ballet would lead her first to small roles in films, and then to Broadway and Hollywood.

She refused Collette herself. But she did it so sincerely and only because she was afraid. She was afraid
that she might ruin the production of the great author, but Collette just laughed out loud. She found her Zhizhi.
A chance meeting on the beach with the great Collette brought Audrey to Broadway. She already had a contract with a film studio, but she still decided to take a risk and go to Broadway.
At the same time, she assured everyone at rehearsals that she was not an actress and asked for forgiveness for the fact that the production could fail because of her.
Everyone around found this behavior charming and only Audrey was seriously worried that she might let everyone down.
And so, on the eve of the premiere, the theater building had a sign ‘Gigi with Audrey Hepburn.’ She caused awe and a new wave of fear in the actress.
She was incredibly worried before going out. Then she imagined that it was not she who was going on stage, but Zhizhi herself.
The premiere was a success, the audience applauded the new star, and Audrey couldn’t believe that she had pulled it off.
It was only the next day, when the sign in the theater was replaced with ‘Audrey Hepburn in Gigi’
and the newspapers vied with each other praising her acting talent, did she realize that Broadway had accepted her.
‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ and the Truman Capote scandal

Audrey had many great roles in her life, an Oscar and a Tony. But many people remember her from the movie ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s.’ But there was a big scandal associated with him.
Truman Capote’s novel Breakfast at Tiffany’s quickly became a bestseller. It was only a matter of time before they started filming it.
But when Audrey Hepburn was cast in the lead role, Capote was furious. He wanted Marilyn Monroe to play the role.
Audrey assured the author that she could cope and would be able to embody the role in the best possible way. But the further filming went, the more dissatisfaction Hepburn caused the writer.
The film Breakfast at Tiffany’s won many awards, but Capote never forgave Audrey. He always said that he was
writing a novel about a corrupt and cunning woman, and Hepburn romanticized this image, making the heroine too touching and charming.
The unrequited love of her life and a fatal diagnosis

Throughout her life, Audrey Hepburn was surrounded by people who loved her. She always felt cared for and attended to. However, there was a person in her life who never reciprocated her feelings.
As an adult, Audrey finally managed to find her father. She hurried to him, dreaming that he also wanted to meet her. But the main disappointment in life awaited her.
‘The whole world loves you, why do you need my love?’ these were the words spoken in an indifferent voice that she heard from her own father.
Perhaps he never loved his own daughter, or perhaps he did not want to become the cause of her problems.
But Audrey’s heart was once again broken, like that day when she, six years old, begged her father not to leave home.
In addition to her acting career, Audrey Hepburn devoted a lot of time to helping sick children. She became a real guardian angel for them and helped until their very last days. But a fatal diagnosis robbed the world of a great woman.

Audrey’s last words were: ‘They are waiting for me… angels… to work on earth…’.
