After being forced to divide a $4,400 tip from a stranger with her coworkers by her management, a waitress was fired.
At OT in Bentonville, Arkansas on Friday, RB was one of two servers waiting on a party of almost forty people!
Each diner left a $100 gratuity for each of the two servers when it came time to pay the bill, for a total of $4,400. One of the diners, GW, commented,
‘It was a great thing to do, and seeing her reaction was awesome, to see what it meant to her, the impact it’s already had on her life.’
The proprietor of a real estate company, GW, claimed that in order to make sure everything went according to plan, he had called beforehand to find out the tipping policy.

He did, however, let Nexstar’s KNWA know that things did not go according to plan. ‘I was promised a 20% pay increase
and to turn over my money to my shift manager,’ BRr said. Both RB and the other waitress were crying when he gave them the money.
However, RB claimed that shortly after, supervisors of the restaurant informed her that she would have
to split the tip with every employee, something that she claims has never occurred in her three and a half years of employment.

‘I was informed that I would be giving my shift manager my cash and receiving 20% of it,’ the early-30-year-old University
of Arkansas alumna said to Fox 59. After that, according to Brandt, she was fired, which left her unable to pay her debts.
‘It was heartbreaking because I had taken out a large loan to pay for my education.” It’s a sad fact that most of them were turned off because of the pandemic,
but they will be turned back on in January, said RB.RB said that she was let go due to her notification of GW regarding tip pooling, which was against restaurant policy.

Did OT really say that? KNWA asked. They sent KNWA a statement but rejected an interview: ‘This large group of guests requested that their gratuity
be given to two particular servers after dining.’ We granted their request in full. We respect our highly esteemed team members and do not share the specifics of an employee’s termination.
To assist RB, GW has now launched an internet fundraising effort.
