Sunlight is very important for our health. That’s why people feel bad living in cities with little sunlight.
The population of Rjukan, which is located in Norway, is about 3386 people. There is no direct sunlight in the city between September and March due to the surrounding mountains.

In fact, the city is almost always bright except in December and January. Large mirrors were placed on the slopes of the mountains near the city, which make the light so that
it appears in the city. At first, this idea was heavily criticized, but it turned out to be a great solution.

The idea of a sun mirror was first proposed by the founder of the city, Sam Eide, back in 1913. He understood the importance of the sun.
The idea was raised again in 2005 by the artist Martin Andersen, a resident of the city. In 2013, the mirror was officially approved, 100 years after its conception.
Scientists note that vitamin D has a key role for the body. It participates in a number of chemical processes that help the body protect itself from various diseases and health problems.

Scientists recommend spending at least 20 minutes in the sun or outside every day. In autumn and winter, make up for the lack of sunlight and,
therefore, vitamin D with fatty meats, particularly fish, and use fatty dairy products that contain a large amount of calcium.
In that case, the body will survive another fall and winter, so that in the spring and summer it will restore the amount of vitamin D in the body.
