A Belgian guy staged his own ‘funeral’ and arrived at it ’ in a helicopter, shocking his bereaved family members beyond belief, according to Independent.
According to David Baerten, he organized the complex ‘prank’ to instill in his family the importance of maintaining relationships with one another.
Baerten revealed that he organized the prank because he felt ‘unappreciate by his family on the French talk program Touche Pas a Mon Poste (TPMP).
Thomas Faut (@el.tiktokeur2), a TikTok user who appeared to have attended the burial, shared a video of the 45-year-old man riding in a helicopter to his own funeral.
The chopper lands in a field, and a door opens, to the sight of mourners. The scene is then captured

on camera as more people start to encircle Baerten and come up to give him hugs and greetings.
Additionally, Faut posted a video of a distraught relative sobbing while giving Baerten a firm embrace.
The headline said, ‘You got us, I swear I was crying and then I had the shock, buddy we love you very much.’

After one of Baerten’s daughters purportedly penned a ‘tribute’ to her father that said, ‘Rest in peace, Daddy,’
a staged funeral was performed close to Liege. I’ll be thinking about you all the time. Why is everything in life so unfair?

Why are you? You still had your entire life ahead of you, and you were going to become a grandfather.
I cherish you! We cherish you! You will always be remembered by us.’ But many did not find Baerten’s practical joke funny, and many accused him of being harsh.
He subsequently uploaded a video to his website in which he provided a detailed justification for the stunt.
said that he was ‘hurt’ that no one from his family had invited him to anything, according to The Times.
‘No one notices me. Each of us became more distant. I felt undervalued. I wanted to teach them a valuable lesson and demonstrate to them that you should never
wait to see someone until they have passed away,” he stated. It was lucky for him that his ruse succeeded.
He added that more family members have been in touch with him since his fictitious funeral, even though ‘only half’ of his family was there.
‘That proves who really cares about me,’ he replied. ‘Those who were unable to attend did get in touch with me to arrange a meeting. Thus, I did win in a sense.’

However, he also realized how much his foolish joke had wounded the people who loved him. When Baerten appeared on TPMP,
he apologized for pulling off the prank. He disclosed that his spouse was cognizant of his scheme from the outset and endeavored to thwart it.
It took ‘a couple of days’ for the joker to tell his kids the truth about what he had done, according to Indy100.
He said on the talk program that his film team insisted on merely recording the trick in exchange for his telling his sister and kids that he wasn’t actually dead.
But he’s argued that they ‘half-knew’ right away that it was a joke. ‘As soon as I started receiving messages from people and videos of them crying,
I wished I could cancel the whole thing, but it was too late,” Baer ten remarked after viewing his loved ones.
‘What have you done this for?’ I asked myself. Humans have an innate yearning for a sense of community and connection. If you are among the many people who experience loneliness,
we advise you to contact your loved one instead of texting them to see how they are doing. Go see them if you can, without waiting for a special occasion.
