Heroic Crane Operator Rescues Man from Towering Building in the Wake of His Coat Wave (VIDEO)

A guy stuck on the roof of a burning high-rise building in Reading, England, was spared death by a worker operating a construction crane.

Although acknowledging that it ‘has not been your average day at work,’ the operator downplayed the spectacular comeback.

Crane operator Glen Edwards was holding individuals indenting to work on building facades on that windy day,

so he used a metal cage for that purpose to help rescue a man he had only glimpsed out of the corner of his eye since the stranded man was flapping about in his coat.

Both the smoke and the cage were being blown around by the strong wind. According to The Daily Mail, the hazardous vapors emanating from the cladding

covering the Station Hill housing development were currently dispersing from the stranded man. He could have fatally inhaled smoke if the winds had changed.

The crowd below erupted in excitement when Edwards, with assistance from his supervisor over the radio,

deftly lowered the cage adjacent to the building just far enough to let the man crawl inside.

Mr. Edwards told the Daily Mail, “If you look at the video at the way the wind was swirling around there, I would say it was a very close call.”

The wind that was circling that area made it difficult for me to try to place the cage between him and the flames. However, I was able to get him into the cage after taking it down.
