75 years ago, a video was recorded of an incredible dance routine that was captured on the first take, without any rehearsal…

Modern dancers undoubtedly spend a great deal of time honing their routines before gaining the confidence to showcase them publicly,

as is evident whenever you watch them perform at dancing contests or on influential television shows.

Regardless, nobody expected one of the most famous and unforgettable dance routines ever captured on video to be created with zero rehearsal.

Released in 1943, the film Stormy Weather featured Bill Robinson and Lena Home. It was popular at the time

and still gets some love from cinema buffs today. Not related to the film’s two main protagonists, but nonetheless notable, was an aspect of the film.

In a scene, brothers Harold and Favard Nicholas are shown kicking up their heels and dancing to the song Jumpin’ Jive,

which was popularized by Cab Calloway at the time. Fortunately, the two brothers’ very amazing acrobatic routine started when the videographer was already in the middle of filming.

Notable in particular is the fact that no rehearsal was done for the choreography; all action in the film was recorded on the first take.

Here, you see two brothers who clearly share a strong bond and a love for joyfully showcasing their dance prowess.

They have received numerous awards for the spontaneous scene they acted out in the movie. For instance,

the legendary dancer Fred Astaire remarked that the dancing in one of his films was the best he had ever seen.

The movie has also been added to the Library of Congress’s National Film Registry, which it owns and runs.

If you haven’t seen these brothers in action yet, get ready to be in awe of the movie that’s being displayed here.

Even though the film was made seven decades ago, the brothers’ skills are still as astounding as they were when they did the dance a few decades prior.
