In the desert was discovered a ship that had been missing for a very long time and was full of treasures.

The finding of a ship in a desert in southwest Africa that had been lost for five centuries and had gold coins on board is one of the most spectacular archeological finds in recent years.

A Portuguese ship sailed from Lisbon on March 7, 1533. This occurrence occurred. Its bones were discovered during diamond mining off the coast of Namibia in 2008. Its location has previously been unclear.

A major hurricane caused it to capsize on its journey to India, and treasures such as copper and gold ingots were among the items taken with it.

The ship yielded two thousand pieces of pure gold and tens of thousands of pounds of copper ingots, practically all of which were discovered in their original, untouched state.

The ship sighted in the desert was carrying a large amount of items as well as cash.

Dr. Noli, a senior archaeologist at the Southern Africa Institute of Maritime Archaeological Research,

says that the discovery of a shipwreck is not unusual given that storms have recently battered the shore.

However, after only one week of digging, a treasure box containing gold money was discovered.

The monies discovered within the chest confirmed that it came from a Portuguese ship that went missing in 1533.

According to history, the ship sank in a storm off the coast of Namibia after being dragged too close to the beach,

causing the hull to crash with a rock and flip over. It made a resurgence in the desert as the waves near the shore were retreating.

With the exception of a few scattered bone parts, the ship’s state when discovered indicated that the storm that caused the tragedy was fairly severe.

The absence of human remains, on the other hand, shows that the majority of the crew either died at sea or managed to evacuate the wreckage.

Dr. Noli told Australia’s News Com in an interview that ‘it gives new meaning to the concept of the ship being loaded with gold.’

More study revealed the existence of bronze bowls, and the long metal poles were eventually identified as canons.

Dr. Noli’s team discovered metal pieces that indicated a shipwreck was hidden in the sand. This was in addition to the musket,

which they estimated to be 500 years old. Cannons, swords, astrological instruments, compasses,

and even a time capsule were discovered. During the search, silver coins were also discovered.

Dr. Noli and other experts believe the ship was sailing from its home port in Lisbon, Portugal, over the

southern tip of Africa, and into Western India. This conclusion is based on the disaster’s contents.

This route was frequently utilized at the time by Portuguese ships that were identical to one another and carried the same cargo.

The Bom Jesus is now the most valuable and archeologically significant shipwreck discovered off Sub-Saharan Africa’s western coast.

Sperrgebiet, which translates as ‘forbidden territory,’ was the term given to the area where the ship

was discovered. This was because it had been inspected by a huge number of German guys seeking for diamonds.

According to CNN, the facility, which is the result of a collaboration between the Namibian government and the diamond giant DeBeers, is still mostly underwater.

Mine security is now guarding the shipwreck relics, and only a small number of people are allowed to

come into contact with them. There have been ideas about establishing a museum, however it is unclear whether or not this will happen.
