A man rescued an orphaned pelican and they now share an incredible bond.

The greatest job in the world belongs to Jeffrey Condon. At Tanzania’s Nomad Lodges, the home of an array of wildlife, he serves as camp manager.

Therefore, interacting with the many interesting species that make up Tanzania’s biodiversity is part of his usual workday. This includes elephants, hippos, gazelles, and zebras among other animals.

Jeffrey made a great friend in spite of the beautiful animals all around him: a pelican. A few years ago, a storm left a pelican separated from its group, and it washed up on a beach.

Since then, the man—a real animal lover—has been taking care of the bird, and the two have developed a strange relationship.

Jeffrey, even though the abandoned bird is a skilled fisherman. ‘I started teaching him to fish when he was about a year old because he didn’t have his colony to show him how,’

Jeffrey said in an interview with the Financial Times. ‘In any case, I had to take him fishing, and I reasoned that by going with him, I might reawaken some of his innate fishing instincts.’

At last, Big Bird—as Jeffrey named his special friend—started catching fish by itself, much to the delight of its human companion. He remarked, ‘I was really happy for him.’

Thank goodness, the couple captured their fun trips on film, and the movie won over millions of hearts.
