Seeking employment and a career can frequently come with challenging challenges. It was experienced by one person in Phoenix, Arizona, who had his job terminated.

In 2019, Patrick Hoagland lost his job operating a forklift at a company that recycled metal. He wasted no time in applying to as many

opportunities as he could because he is a very hardworking individual. He submitted applications both in person and online for several jobs, but none of them responded to him.

Having heard nothing from any prospective employers, he decided to take matters into his own actions.

Hoagland printed 200 copies of his resume and handed them out in his residential area. It was getting up to 110 degrees Fahrenheit as he was passing out his résumé on the side of the road.

A woman named Melissa DiGianfilippo happened to stop by and pick up one of his resumes. She was so touched by what she saw that she made the decision to try and help.

She used her connections to spread the news because she owned a public relations and marketing company.

After posting the resume on social media, Hoagland was inundated with comments from various businesses, contractors, and employment agencies.

Her initial post garnered a significant amount of re-shares and impressions. In the end, Hoagland chose to accept the job that would benefit him and his family the most.

In the end, he chose to take a job in the Phoenix area that Flatline Concrete Grinding was providing.

Even though Hoagland initially felt it was a silly idea to stand on a street corner and hand out copies of his resume,

he is proud of his efforts to do what he needed to do in order to support himself and his family.

In an interview with CNN, the recently employed man said, ‘I had only been jobless for a few weeks,

but it was really unexpected and I needed to work something out quickly.’ ‘I had only been out of work for a couple of weeks,’ he continued.

He admitted that he wasn’t sure if his idea was stupid or not. However, I couldn’t stop thinking about it, even though at first I laughed and thought it was absurd.

‘I thought, why the heck not?’ he exclaimed. ‘There are millions of drivers in Phoenix; I might be hired by someone,’ he remarked. ‘My experience is extensive.’

DiGianfilippo noted that he worked outside and expressed her happiness with his efforts in spite of the sweltering weather.

Despite the fact that it was 110 degrees outside, she continued, she was still in awe of Patrick and said that what she had seen was totally unexpected.

He was standing by the side of the road with a big smile on his face, a sign in one hand, and a stack of resumes in the other.

‘I was driving down Camelback Road in Phoenix near my workplace and noticed this man by the side of the road with a grin in 110-degree heat,

begging people to accept his résumé,” the woman wrote on social media after this incident. It said,

‘Please take my resume.’ on the sign. The fact that he wasn’t seeking for charity but rather asked that people consider employing him makes me very happy. #askforhelp #appreciate #job

Hoagland said she was surprised by this but was also appreciative of it. ‘She has been so kind; she didn’t need to help me,

but she did, and it has changed my life,’ the man said. ‘She didn’t have to assist me,’ ‘Words cannot describe how grateful I am to her,” he uttered.

According to DiGianfilippo, this was the absolute least she could do to help someone else. According to DiGianfilippo,

‘I think this is a good reminder for people that sometimes all it takes is a few minutes out of your day to really change someone’s life or make their day better.’

‘I believe that people should be reminded that it only takes a few minutes to truly brighten someone else’s day.’
