In their rendition of ‘The Prayer,’ Celine Dion and Josh Groban matched powerful vocals like no other.

You would be mistaken to assume that their management or record companies were responsible for arranging for them to perform this duet.

Josh Groban’s meteoric rise to fame in 1998 was the motherload that yielded this incredible performance.

At that point, music producer David Foster called Josh and asked him to fill in for Andrea Bocelli, a famed opera singer, during a Grammy Awards practice.

At first, Josh turned it down because he didn’t think he had the time to adequately prepare to step into Bocelli’s shoes,

which would have been an enormous challenge for anyone. But he was also cognizant of the fact that,

as David had stressed to him, this might be his big break. Celine Dion describes her first meeting with Josh in the whole video that you can see below.
