Recently, an Austin, Texas, couple achieved an admirable title that many will strive for but few will actually achieve.
With a combined age of 211 years, John Henderson, 106, and Charlotte Henderson, 105, have recently become the oldest married couple in history, according to Guinness World Records.
They will also commemorate their 80th wedding anniversary on December 15. They met at a University of Texas class in 1934,
and that is when their love story started. They got married in December 1939 and stayed in a $7 hotel room on their honeymoon.

What then is the key to the couple’s unprecedented marriage and longevity of over a century?
In 2017, John said he leads a moderate life. They never act in an unusual manner. Eat a diet high in nutrients.
Get plenty of rest. Avoid consuming too much alcohol. Consume food in moderation. Do a lot of exercise as well.

John is part of the oldest married pair and the oldest living former UT football player. Additionally, the pair has been to at least one UT football game each season for the last 84 years.
Charlotte said, ‘They had a great time after John retired.’ They made a lot of trips. They essentially keep themselves busy all the time, which is beneficial.
Now, the couple volunteers at Longhorn Village, an assisted living community for UT employees and alumni.
