When Donny Osmond joined his brothers’ band, The Osmonds—which consisted of Alan, Wayne, Merrill, Jay, and Donny—he became well-known.
The boy band reached the pinnacle of the charts between 1971 and 1975, causing fans to go into uncontrollable hysterics wherever they performed.
Teens would sometimes end up being chased by mobs of other teenagers who were sobbing and screaming.
The ubiquity of ‘Osmondmania’ was increased by their virtuous lifestyle and religious convictions, which elevated them to the status of unquestionable idols.
With eight brothers—Virl, Tom, Alan, Wayne, Merrill, Jay, Donny, and Jimmy Osmond—and one sister—Marie Osmond—who
was born into stardom because her brothers were already well-known by the time she was born, the Osmond family was a huge one.
Following The Osmonds’ musical hiatus, Marie and Donny formed a pop duo. They came out with the hits ‘I’m Leaving It All Up to You’ and ‘Morning Side of the Mountain.’
Their popularity kept rising, and in 1976 they were able to launch their own program, ‘Donny & Marie.’
Given his upbringing, it should come as no surprise that Donny values his family; not only does he come from a big family,
but his career was developed in tandem with his siblings. After getting married to Debbie Osmond, Donny had his own brood of boys—five, to be exact!
Donny went down memory lane in 2023 when his brother Merrill asked him to go on stage. See the touching exchange between the two siblings by reading on.

Donny Osmond, who has been in the business for more than 60 years, stated in 2023 that he wanted to beat Elvis Presley’s record.
Donny claimed that being on stage was his “drug of choice” in an interview with The Standard from March 2023 because he enjoys putting audiences ‘on a journey.’
‘I kind of see the end of the tunnel, it’s not very close because I have a lot of things I still want to do,
but one of which I think I have to get to is 68 albums because then I’ll beat Elvis,’ he said at the time.
Throughout his career, the musician experienced a number of health issues, despite his determination to perform.
Doctors discovered in 2019 that his dancing-related injuries had caused a change in his spine.
In 2021, Donny stated in an interview with the Daily Mirror: ‘I was unable to feel my arms at first,
and then my legs too. I kept my condition a secret from everyone.I simply kept dancing till the show was over.’
The singer later stated in September 2023 that he had to postpone two of his performances at Harrah’s
Las Vegas ‘due to illness,’ and he promptly offered his apologies to the ticket holders for the inconvenience.
Nevertheless, following the cancelation of his shows, Donny managed to make a significant comeback.
He talked about getting back together with his brothers for a performance earlier that month on Trisha Paytas’ ‘Just Trish’ podcast, and it sounded like it wouldn’t be happening any longer.
‘With my brothers? I don’t suppose so; most people have retired by now,’ he remarked.

As one of his closest siblings, Merrill Osmond, performed at his final gig ever in April 2022 at the age of 68, Donny was correct in the interview regarding his brothers’ retirement.
During that period, Donny posted a picture of himself and his close brother on social media. He was seen
in the picture giving Merrill a heartfelt embrace from behind while his sibling was singing passionately.
He wrote in the caption:
‘I’ll never forget that evening. I attended my brother Merrill’s farewell show in the United States.
When we performed together in the 1970s at the Westgate Theater, I became a fan too as I sung along with all of the other fans there.’
He later disclosed in a follow-up post that although Merrill had asked him to walk upstage during his last song,
he couldn’t resist giving his brother a heartfelt hug as he bid farewell to his lengthy career in the music business.
‘Yes, The Osmonds was developed by all of us, but Merrill’s vocal gave the group its distinctive sound. It was a very remarkable occasion. I’m grateful, my brother,’ he continued.
Following the touching exchange, fans expressed their joy in the reply area, with one writing, ‘It was so emotional to watch, but the love between you was beautiful 😍.’
‘I cried as I watched this touching moment,’ was the response from another. Never forgotten. You two are really emotional! The love in that hug was palpable 🖤💜.’
A person wrote, ‘The Osmonds are incredible people.’ I adore them beyond measure. They are a devoted
family who genuinely care about one another and bring happiness to all. The Osmond could teach us something.
