At the age of 75, actor Tom Wilkinson, who gained popularity for his role in The Full Monty, has passed away.

Tom Wilkinson, a British actor best known for his role in The Full Monty, went dead, it was revealed on Saturday. He was seventy-five years old.

His family confirmed to People in a statement that he died at home, surrounded by the people who held deep affection for him.

With 130 credits under his belt throughout the course of his career, Wilkinson was an extremely talented and recognized actor, according to IMDB.

Notable is his performance as Gerald in the 1997 film The Full Monty, which follows a gang of unemployed steelworkers as they ‘form a male striptease act,’ according to IMDB.

For his contribution in the well-known comedy, Wilkinson received the 1998 British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Award for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role.

This year, Wilkinson returned to the character of Gerald following Disney+’s relaunch of The Full Monty for a six-episode miniseries.

He received nominations for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) for his roles in the television series Martin Chuzzlewit

and Cold Enough for Snow, as well as the films Michael Clayton (2007), In the Bedroom (2001), and Shakespeare in Love (1998).

He received two Academy Award nominations: one for best performance by an actor in a supporting role in

George Clooney’s Michael Clayton, and another for best actor in a starring role in the thriller In the Bedroom.

Wilkinson also received an Emmy for supporting actor for his role as Benjamin Franklin in the 2008 film John Adams.

Furthermore, he received nominations for three additional Emmys, one of which was related to his portrayal of Joe Kennedy, the father of another notable historical person, in the 2011 film The Kennedys.

Among the other notable movies he has worked on include Sense and Sensibility, Rush Hour, The Grand Budapest Hotel, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

According to the BBC, Wilkinson trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. In the 1986 movie First Among Equals, which also starred his wife Diana Hardcastle, he had his first noteworthy appearance.

Following their 1988 wedding, the couple continued to work together on acting roles. In the 2014 movie Good People and The Kennedys,

for example, Hardcastle—who is currently 74 years old—played the part of Rose Kennedy, Wilkinson’s on-screen wife. The BBC reported on their collaboration.

The two girls that Hardcastle and Wilkinson had are named Alice and Molly.
