It is ideal for the family to be whole on important occasions so that the individual commemorating a
significant accomplishment can spend amazing times and memories with the ones they care about the most.
However, some people are unable to attend every event or gathering owing to various conditions, such as advanced age, as it can be difficult for them to travel for extended periods of time.
One soldier overcame all expectations and traveled more than five hours to receive the first salute from his grandfather, and he seemed to have no regrets about their heartfelt encounter.
The initial poster of a video that Amanda Penning posted on TikTok in June 2022 said that their grandfather was unable to attend her cousin’s Army commissioning ceremony.
However, the soldier made the decision to travel five hours that same day in order to see the kind old man because he genuinely wanted the grandfather to be a part of his wonderful day.
The video clip opened with the new soldier standing outside a house, followed quickly by his granddad leaving.‘Hi, how are you doing?’ The old man was met by the soldier.

Later, the grandfather posed an emotional inquiry to him, saying, ‘Lieutenant, I have a question for you.’ Could I be the fortunate one to salute you first? The soldier nodded in agreement.
The soldier returned the old man’s salute, they shook hands, and the video concluded with them giving each other a hearty hug.
Just before the video cuts, the voice of the woman holding the phone was heard saying, ‘Beautiful.’
One person commented that she was reminded of her granddad by the two’s endearing exchange.
‘Not me sitting here gushing about how much he reminds me of my dad on Father’s Day and hearing him ask, ‘Aimenah, how are you doing?’’ My heart needed that, thank you,’ she wrote.
After seeing the video, someone else left a comment expressing their emotional reaction, writing,
‘And, I’m bawling.’ Grandpa gave a flawless salute! This is very amazing! I appreciate your services, both of you.
One person said, “Very precious and beautiful, thank you for letting me see this. I needed to see and hear this. God bless everyone.’
What a unique experience and memory to have. Thank you, Lieutenant, for your new commission. One person wrote, ‘God bless you and thank you for your service.,

‘This is a powerful blow. With the uniform and one another, such love and respect. Another person remarked, ‘We need to return to the traditional traditions of being proud to be Americans.
This one gives me a lot of goosebumps—what a gift! ‘Congratulations to the grandfather and grandson!’ said someone.
The new Lieutenant then received some guidance from a reader who stated, ‘Grandpa was crisp with his salute.’ LT, congratulations.
Once at the unit, pay attention to the NCOs in your platoon. They’ll guide you in the proper direction.
As one said, ‘Well that just hit me in the feels to what it felt like to return my first salute as a
new LT 15.5 years ago,’ another user expressed how unique the moment was when they experienced it for the first time.
