They Prepared an Emotional Tribute for Grandmother’s College Graduation, 60 Years After She Started (Watch)

Almost 60 years after she initially began her academic journey, an English grandmother has at last received her degree from university.

She ended the chase after finding out she was expecting her first child with her partner, whom she

had met at the same college. At the time, she was one of six women enrolled in the animal sciences program.

Angela Davidson returned to school sixty years after she had left, and in December 2023 she earned a Bachelor of Science (honors) in Animal Sciences.

Upon entering the platform, an academic representative informed the audience that ‘of the approximately 200 veterinary students in our class today, approximately 80% are female.’

They went on, ‘and one of those students, Angela Davidson, still waits for her degree—and today she will get it.” In 1960, that number was just six.

‘It was the most amazing morning. Her words, ‘I’ve been waiting for this for years,’ ‘Today, it is acknowledged that the early 1960s were a very different time for women—I felt such a warm atmosphere.’

‘My daughter, who I was expecting when I left the course, was here with me today to see me finally pick up my degree. I’ve waited many years for this.’
