Even at ninety years old, Minnie Payne knows there’s always more to discover. She just made University

of North Texas history by being the oldest student to graduate with a master’s degree, in large part because of this.

In a YouTube video, Minnie is seen being led by her grandson as she crosses the stage to pick up her diploma.

The audience present at the graduation ceremony roars with excitement when her name is called.

In the video, Minnie explained her three-year decision to return to school and earn a master’s degree despite her elderly age.

First and foremost, she stated, ‘I have always tried to better myself.’ Second, I understood that learning

is a necessary part of improving oneself. Thirdly, I was aware that it need work. I completed my assignment with patience.

She was committed to putting in the time, energy, and labor required to succeed academically. In the video,

one of her lecturers said that she “did not cut any corners,’ ‘was very dedicated to her work,’ and asked questions when they came up.

If more individuals had Minnie’s courage, determination, and outlook, the world would be a much better place.

Nothing worthwhile in life is simple. Making sacrifices and working hard are necessary to accomplish something valuable in this life.
