Robert De Niro, who is 79 years old, became a parent last year. Much was reported about this.

It goes without saying that when the actor disclosed that he had reconnected with his fatherhood through film producer Tiffany Chen, there were many detractors.

When De Niro revealed the information at a red carpet event in May of last year, his fan base was truly shocked.

Nevertheless, it seems that the Goodfellas actor is enjoying being a parent to a young child despite

his advanced age. In a recent interview, the 80-year-old sobbed while talking about his little daughter, Gia.

In an interview with AARP for their February/March issue, De Niro remarked, ‘I’m an 80-year-old dad,

and it’s awesome.’ ‘When I stare at her, everything that’s consuming or worrying me just fades away. It’s amazing.

The Irish actor added that Gia made him think of his daughter Helen, whom he welcomed with Grace Hightower in 2011.

The actor is nominated for an Oscar for his performance in Flowers of the Killer Moon.
De Niro continued, ‘I want to be here as long as I can to enjoy it and enjoy her.’

De Niro stated in a speech about fatherhood last year that he ‘doesn’t think I’m a cool dad’ and that

he believes ‘ in being loving with [his] kids,’ even when he occasionally needs ‘to be stern about stuff.’

With kids, there really isn’t a way around it. I dislike having to establish laws and other regulations of that nature.

However, there are instances when you really have no option; I believe any parent would agree.

‘You always want to act morally and give the kids the benefit of the doubt, but sometimes you just can’t.’

After divorcing his wife of 20 years, Grace Hightower, in 2018, the legendary actor appears to have rekindled his love affair with Tiffany Chen.

With his first wife, Diahnne Abbott, De Niro is the father of two children: Drena, 51, and Raphael, 46.

He has two more children with his second wife, Grace: Elliot, 25, and Helen, 11. Along with Toukie Smith, the actor has twin sons, 27-year-old Julian and Aaron.

I believe it is universally acknowledged that Robert De Niro is a devoted and caring parent.
