In Healey, Alaska, a man named Gareth Jackson was suddenly saved from a potentially fatal scenario by a grizzly bear he had assisted a year before in an unexpected turn of events.

The story started when a hunting party decided to kill a rogue grizzly bear that was causing trouble in the Hills outside of Healey.

concern for the bears going into hibernation, especially the females who were going to give birth, the mob killed three bears over the course of the following week.

When a gang of ferocious hunters approached the laboring female grizzly, he stepped in to stop them from hurting the bear and her young.

In the mountains, Gareth encountered a new set of issues a year later. He was trapped in a little avalanche,

suffering from a twisted ankle and a fractured leg, and he couldn’t get rescue by radio. He was shocked to see that the grizzly bear he had saved had returned, as if it had remembered him.

The grizzly stopped short of assaulting Gareth and, amazingly, sat on one end of the fallen tree that was trapping him.

This unanticipated gesture gave Gareth enough leverage to release his legs. Then the grizzly moved on, leaving Gareth stunned and overcome with thanks.
