Passengers on the Plane Throw an Unplanned Baby Shower as a Couple Returns Home With Their Newly Adopted Daughter

Dozens of other travelers showered these nervous parents with words of love and encouragement as they were returning home with their just adopted daughter.

Caren and Dustin Moore were returning home to California in November, having recently become the

delighted parents of an 8-day-old newborn girl that they had acquired from a Colorado adoption agency.

In a recent Twitter thread, Dustin reminisced, ‘After receiving permission to go back home to California, my wife carried our priceless bundle,

while I apologized repeatedly to passengers while navigating the aisle with four bags.’ Our daughter gently woke us up in the middle of the flight to tell us she needed a new diaper.

‘We asked for a table change, and Jenny, the considerate flight attendant, made room in the back of the aircraft and gave us privacy.’

The flight attendant and another passenger kindly questioned the devoted father about why he was traveling with such a small child while he was changing his daughter’s diaper.

Dustin added, ‘I gave them the shortened adoption story, to which they shared a few more kind remarks and quickly offered congratulations.’

‘After about ten minutes, we were greeted with a warm smile by another attendant, Bobby, who asked us about our daughter.’

After we gave a few details of the story again, he praised us and turned to go. I looked at my wife curiously, but we didn’t discuss it further.

A few minutes later, to their surprise, Bobby’s voice over the intercom announced the Moores’ adoption, and the plane broke out in a wild round of clapping and shouts.

Bobby then announced to the passengers that pens and napkins would be distributed so that everyone could leave encouraging remarks for the soon-to-be parents.

For him and his wife, the spontaneous baby shower held after their daughter’s adoption had been especially poignant because they had been feeling anxious and vulnerable.

‘The emotionally delicate state of two brand-new parents was something that all those perfect strangers and attendees were unaware of,’

Dustin wrote. Parents who had been fortunate enough to have their first child after nine years of trying. Parents who were apprehensive about their new position but determined.

‘Words cannot express how much that flight meant to us; it was an outpouring of affection prompted by the conduct of two intelligent, perceptive flight attendants.

How much the written letters and those wings encouraged the two new parents who were resolved to cherish their new daughter.

Since then, Caren and Dustin have organized the notes on napkins into a scrapbook that they intend to give to their daughter in the future.
