The three-year-old son of Anne Hathaway and her husband Adam Shulman, Jonathan Rosebanks, has made
her rethink some of the decisions she has made throughout her life as a result of being a mother.
The extraordinarily private actress from ‘The Princess Diaries’ tries her hardest to keep the details of her personal life private,
but when it comes to the difficulties she has as a parent, she has been known to share a little more.
Hathaway stated that she had made the decision to give up alcohol for the benefit of her child, who looks on her to be there ‘all the time,’
during her appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show to promote her new movie Serenity. When Hathaway was promoting the movie, she made this declaration.
While many people are participating in Dry January, Hathaway has made the decision to abstain from alcohol for a far longer duration than most people.
‘I finally put an end to it in October after eighteen years of drinking,’ Hathaway stated. I have made the decision to abstain from alcohol while my child is
at home since he is getting to the point where he wants me constantly in the mornings. He’s getting to the point where he truly needs me all the time, and I don’t particularly love the way I do it.
Hathaway said that there have been times in the past when she hasn’t been particularly proud of herself for being sober when faced with important issues, like leaving her child off at school.
‘I just did one school run, dropping him off at school for one day,’ she admitted, being honest. The fact that
I was too tired to drive was good enough excuse for me to stay home. That one was completely ineffective for me.
The Oscar winner remembers that on the previous night, she went out drinking with co-star Matthew McConaughey and his wife, Camila Alves,
on the island of Mauritius, and then she had to endure an early morning meeting with the director of her latest movie. Matthew McConaughey is married to Camila Alves.
