Upon hearing the news, his former students—who are now accomplished musicians—gathered to receive one final lesson from him. What a fitting tribute to a retired educator!
One cannot not but draw comparisons to the Mr. Holland’s Opus film from the 1990s starring Richard Dreyfuss.
In the film, the music instructor receives a standing ovation from his present students as well as his previous pupils when they reunite. They continue by giving him one final performance.

For this event, more than 300 of Mr. C’s previous pupils came together. Hugh Panaro from the 1982 class was one of them. On Broadway, he portrayed the lead character in Phantom of the Opera.
‘When we walked into his band room it didn’t matter if you were a star on the football field or star on the basketball court,
we walked in, we picked up our instruments, sat down at the piano, and we were all one,’ the former student says in the Inside Edition video interview with Mr. C. Frank DiLella later in the clip.
The interviewer then queries Mr. C about his qualities as a superb teacher. In reply, he says, ‘My love of it!’ A straightforward but impactful remark.

‘I’m not crying so lovely he must have been great teacher for 300 of my former students to come back for this day,’ a commenter says.
A teacher’s impact on the community is evident when former students wish to come and congratulate them. Among those teachers is Mr. C.
