The gorillas meet the child after raising her for twelve years, and then an unexpected event occurs.

The naturalist Damian Aspinall founded the Aspinall Foundation with the intention of reintroducing imprisoned gorillas to their native environment.

Though hundreds of apes have benefited from their help over the years, one particular pair stands out from the others.

Damian raised two Western lowland gorillas, Djalta and Bimms, for fifteen years in Kent, England, before releasing them. They were let go into the West African nation of Gabon’s jungles.

Even though Damian saw the monkeys several times after their release, Tansy, Damian’s daughter, who spent her early years with them, has not seen them in around a dozen years.

Along with spending a lot of time playing on the grass with Djalta and Bims, my sister Clary and I would occasionally visit the cages housing other gorillas.

Tansy remarked, ‘Those two guys were much more like our relatives to us than anyone else; I loved being around all of them.’

‘It was when I was ten years old, and they were being crated up for the trip to the conservation site in Gabon,’ the woman said. She had not seen them since then.

So it was that two years ago that the wildlife specialist asked his daughter to go on a vacation with him.

Tansy and her father traveled to the nation’s forests in West Africa, where they sought to make peace with the gorillas who were no longer part of their family, hoping that they might recognize Tansy.

Tansy remarked, ‘I was a little nervous at first when we set out to find them again because I didn’t know if they

would remember me after all that time or if they had become hardened by life and possibly dangerous.’ ‘I was unsure if they would remember me at all during that period of time.’

Unbelievably, as they were waiting for Djalta and Bimms to arrive in a boat and eventually come out of the bush, something amazing happened.

Watch the video presented below to find out if the gorillas still know Tansy after all these years:

What a cute little thing! Furthermore, they asked her to stay for an extended period of time.

Make sure everyone knows about this amazing reunion! They will undoubtedly smile as a result of it.
