Lucy Falconer from Glasgow went to school for the first time and this event would have gone unnoticed by everyone except the girl’s family if not for two photographs.
Gillian’s mum was proud of her daughter and took a great photo of her before sending her off to school in the morning.
And then she couldn’t resist and took another photo when 5-year-old Lucy returned home. Take a look at the difference and you will understand everything.
There are four children in the Falconer family and Lucy knows firsthand what school is like. Here she is with her older brother, preparing to begin gnawing on the granite of science.

This is how she left the house that morning. Skirt, stockings, tie, bow. A neat hairstyle and a smile Lucy is looking forward to the first day of school day.

And just a few hours later this came home. Even taking into account the carelessness of small children, Lucy looked unwell, although she didn’t show it.

When asked by her mother about how the first day of school was, the girl blithely replied, ‘Oh, nothing special.’
But the mother noted that in the evening her daughter went to bed earlier than usual. Well, young Lucy, welcome to this world childhood is left behind and almost adulthood lies ahead.
In Scotland, not only do people start going to school at the age of 5, but most children start school as early as mid-August. Summer holidays are short and Lucy now knows this from personal experience.

The simple story of Lucy Falconer quickly went viral, because every second user on the Internet saw a reflection of their realities in a combination of two photographs.
Some also remembered school, others remembered universities, and the vast majority described it as their first time going to work or starting a career.

We all go out into the big world with a smile and a bow, and then we barely have the strength to drag home a backpack with a unicorn.
