In the entertainment sector, stage names are not uncommon. It’s unusual for someone to ask to be referred to by their legal name instead of their given name.
That’s Emma Stone, though!
In a recent interview, the two-time Oscar winner disclosed that she is more comfortable going by Emily, her given name.
Although Emily is her legal name, she was forced to use Emma when applying for her SAG card because the union already had an actress named Emily Stone.

The majority of people she knows call her Emily, so she told the publication that ‘a couple of years ago’ she ‘freaked out’ because she could no longer stand being called Emma.
‘I realized that I was no longer able to continue for some reason. Call me Emily, please.

Ironically, Stone remembered a period in second grade when she asked to be named Emma by her teacher since Baby Spice, aka Emma Bunton, was her favorite Spice Girl at the time.
My name is Emily, but I wanted to be called Emma because of Baby Spice when I was a child. Well, guess what? In November 2018, she said to Jimmy Fallon, ‘Now I am.’
However, the 35-year-old would prefer it if everyone called her by her given name, Emily, even her fans.
