Vocalists, both male and female, are just people like the rest of us. Like the rest of us, they often experience loss,
even if they are extremely wealthy and well-known. They experience happiness and sorrow in the same manner as everyone else.
Some singers can even sing a song of remembrance for their departed lovers while they are performing live.
Legendary country music performer Lorrie Morgan’s late spouse experienced precisely that.

This was, by many accounts, one of Lorrie Morgan’s hardest performances to date. The song is among her greatest, in the opinion of many of her devoted followers.
Morgan sobbed bitterly into the microphone on the passing of her late husband. She sang one of his best-known songs,
giving the melancholy words all feeling she had. In 1988, her late husband Keith Whitley released the song ‘Don’t Close Your Eyes.’ Bob McDill wrote the song’s lyrics.

One of the three singles from his 1988 self-titled album was ‘Don’t Close Your Eyes.’ After its release, it quickly shot to the top of the country music charts.
It also reached its highest position on the country singles chart of Billboard for the year.
Global listeners enjoyed the poignant yet profound lyrics.

Whitley only put out two albums before his untimely death. He passed away on May 9, 1989. Four posthumous albums have been released since his untimely death. Just three months after One’s death, he was freed.
Whitley and Morgan were captured in several photos and videos together while performing ‘Don’t Close Your Eyes’ live. Fans get to see a peek of the couple slow-dancing as the song comes to an end.
This beautiful song pays homage to a fantastic country music star, as does the accompanying music video.

Whitley and Morgan are married since 1986. The sole child of the pair was Jesse Keith Whitley. As a musician, Jesse has carried on his parents’ musical heritage.
