‘Mad Max’ George Miller, the director of the movie Fury Road, told about the mutual dislike between Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy on the set of the hit film released in 2015.
According to him, the tension arose from the fact that Theron and Hardy were immersed in their characters, Empress Furiosa and Max Rockatansky.
‘I’m an optimist, so I think their behavior reflected their characters, who had to learn to work together for mutual survival,’ Miller told The Telegraph.

Speaking about the tension between the stars, he said: ‘There is no excuse for that, and I think there is a tendency in this business to use a big role as an excuse for other failures that could have been avoided.’
It was said that the Oscar-winning actress even asked the producers to provide her with ‘protection’ amid the tension with Hardy.
She was irritated by Hardy’s tardiness, for whom he once had to wait more than three hours. When the actor finally showed up,
Theron expressed her displeasure and demanded that the producers fine him ‘one hundred thousand dollars for each delay’.
Hardy reacted quite aggressively to her attack, and the actress said: ‘I need someone to protect me.’

Miller attributed the clashes to their different personalities. ‘Tom has flaws, but he’s also a brilliant actor, and whatever happened to him at that moment, he should have been taken out of the trailer,’ Miller said.
‘And Charlize was incredibly disciplined, she is a dancer by profession, which was reflected in the precision of her performance, and she was always the first to come to the set.’
