The cause of death of Mandisa, a former contestant on “American Idol,” has been revealed.

Seven weeks after the former American Idol contestant was discovered dead in her home, Mandisa’s cause of death has been made public.

People was able to secure an autopsy report that stated the Christian singer passed away naturally.

The singer, 47, ‘was last known alive approximately three weeks’ earlier, according to the article, and was discovered dead in her home by acquaintances on April 18.

The Grammy winner’s class III obesity issues were the cause of her death. As to the Cleveland Clinic,

class III obesity is defined as an individual who ‘has a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or higher or a BMI of 35 or higher and is experiencing obesity-related health conditions.’

Mandisa, a college music major, participated in American Idol’s fifth season and placed among the top nine contestants.

In 2007, she followed her time on Idol with the release of her debut album, True Beauty. Her record garnered her a Grammy nomination

and landed at the top of the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart. Throughout her career, she would go on to record five more albums.

Idol honored Mandisa shortly after her passing with a special rendition of ‘Shackles (Praise You)’ by Danny Gokey, Melinda Doolittle, and Colton Dixon.

‘Mandisa was a beloved icon in the music industry and on ‘American Idol,’’ the program noted in a statement at the time.

She has achieved platinum sales status and received multiple Grammy awards for her compositions.
