According to popular belief, real love seldom flows smoothly, but for one couple, the course turned out to be one that would last a lifetime. In the 1950s, Frederick Paul and Florence Harvey were each other’s first loves, dating while still in high school. But when a wedding invitation separated them, they were unable to reunite. Fred had to travel from his homeland of Newfoundland, Canada, to Nova Scotia, Canada, in order to attend his sister’s wedding. Following that, he traveled to Toronto to see his brother, but he ran out of money and ended up staying for a year, according to CBC.

Frederick returned to Toronto, where he and Florence had gone their own ways, after Florence had completed a teaching course.

Despite the fact that they were separated, the two had maintained a strong bond with one other. A little assistance from their brothers, the two were able to reunite over 70 years after both of their wives passed away and reunite with one other.

So, when I was seeing my brother, his brother happened to be at the same seniors’ home in Marystown where I was visiting him. Florentine was informed that he had stated, ‘I’ll give you Fred’s number.’

His brother approached him, and he consented to give Florence his phone number, but he also said that Florence would never contact him.

Fred, on the other hand, was incorrect. When Florence called, I picked up the phone. That’s not the case. Florence contacted me. The feeling of being all by myself was overwhelming. A lonely Florence called her friend to give her regrets since he had just lost his wife the previous autumn and to assure him that it does get a bit better. For months, the two high school sweethearts kept in touch via phone, reminiscing about their happy times together in high school. According to Fred, ‘We were on the phone for hours at a time, four days a week.’

For months, the two high school sweethearts kept in touch via phone, reminiscing about their happy times together in high school.

According to Fred, ‘We were on the phone for hours at a time, four days a week.’

After walking around the vehicle, he said, ‘Florence was getting out of the back seat, so I gave her a kiss on the cheek, held her hand, and we started walking toward my home.’

The moment I saw her, I knew she had reclaimed my heart.

Despite their children’s pleas to calm down, the couple began discussing marriage and looking for engagement rings.

There isn’t much time left for us to accomplish our goals, so we informed our children that their parents are now 81 and 84. As a result, Fred told CBC, ‘we kept moving forward.’

The pair exchanged wedding vows on August 8th. When Florence addressed Fred during the ceremony, she said: ‘You were the first young guy to accompany me home when I was a teenager. In the words of CNN, ‘I assume you’ll be the last guy who walks me home.’

These two were able to get back together and discover that their love for one another had never gone away. To this lovely pair, I send my best wishes for a long and happy marriage.

By spreading the word about this story, you can help us congratulate Florence and Fred.
