Margaret left modern life in favor of a 280-year-old cottage, and she’s never looked back since.
Our daily lives appear to be increasingly dependent on the technology.
Unfortunately, the majority of these technical devices evolve at a faster rate than humans can keep up with them.
At times, it appears like surviving without technology would be nearly impossible. This does not need to be the case.
Technology does not excite everyone. Margaret Gallagher is a 79-year-old woman. Gallagher lives alone close to the town of Belcoo in County Fermanagh, Ireland.
Margaret lives in a 280-year-old white house with swamp wood timbers and a thatched cottage roof.
This home is more than a tourism destination; it is Margaret’s original home, a treasure she values. This is about as low-tech as it gets. Her home lacks running water, power, and, of course, Wi-Fi.
In fact, she has little interest to learn about or experiment with these new technology. She believes that the life she is enjoying today is the best she has ever had and that she could not ask for anything more.
She even cooks as if it were the 1800s.
Chores are an important aspect of life. She also looks after her livestock, and she still gets water from a spring every day with a bucket.
Margaret prepares to sleep as the sun sets, and she awakens when the sun rises.
She gets enough of rest, eats nutritious foods, and exercises on a regular basis by rearing cattle and drawing water from the well. Mary is, indeed, living life to the fullest.
In the 1800s, Margaret’s grandfather was the first owner of the property. Since then, their family has taken delight in their lovely, solid, and simple home. It’s even been referred to as a living museum.
Margaret is gracious enough to invite visitors into her modest house. She wishes to highlight the lovely history of the area as well as the lovely way of life that she enjoys.
You wouldn’t guess the lovely mansion is 280 years old at first glance. How is it even feasible to keep a property like this up to date?
Everything is lovely.
Everything has a story, from her desks, seats, cutlery, and even her bed and linens, and you can see how much Margaret has treated of each object in her home.
It’s the perfect place to retire.
When you leave her lovely home, you’ll be greeted by an equally lovely setting, ideal for her favorite pastime of reading.
She is completely oblivious to everything that is going on around her.
Margaret values her old but lovely thatch cottage above all else. She has no desire for the city or the gadgets that will consume the majority of your time.
Margaret’s only access to technology is her cell phone and a wind-up radio.
She communicates with others on occasion and even listens to the news, but she prefers to spend her time alone with her books. Margaret is a big fan of living off the grid.
She looks forward to each day. She also enjoys telling the narrative of her house to those who are willing to listen.
