Even though the iconic musician Tom Jones lost his wife Linda several years ago, he continues to be saddened and affected  by her passing.

The romance between Tom Jones and Linda Jones was a match made in heaven. Jones and Linda shared a birthplace of Pontypridd, South Wales, and were raised playing together.

Jones acknowledges that he fell in love with Linda and that the two formed a friendship before they fell in love. At 16, they finally began dating, and soon after, they were wed.

A few months later, they gave birth to Mark, their only child, and began their new marriage. The first six years were blissful, and Jones decided to work at a glove factory to provide for his family.

He then pursued his love of music at night while working in construction during the day. Fortunately, Jones quickly garnered popularity in the music scenes and rocketed to fame at the age of 24.

The 1960s sensation soon spent the most of his time traveling rather than at home. But Linda kept everything running well and stood by her man.

The two stayed close despite this and spoke on the phone frequently. Jones outlined their special connection:

‘She and I shared a part of each other. Regardless of where we were.’ Jones is still grieving his beloved wife. The union between Jones and Linda exemplified a lasting one.

They were married for over six decades after walking down the aisle as teenagers. Sadly, a tragic incident in 2016 brought an end to their blissful union.

Linda unfortunately succumbed to lung cancer in 2016 after a “short but intense” fight. Jones had spent the majority of his life with Linda, and they had accomplished everything together. He felt devastated now that she was gone!

In his first interview since her passing, Jones told People that losing his wife was a painful experience and that he was unsure of how to handle it. He is still looking for coping mechanisms years later.

He has made great strides in recent years, though, including meeting with a grieving counsellor who urged him to sing Bob Dylan’s soul-searching love song ‘What Good Am I’ which made him consider whether he would have preferred things to have turned out differently.

The ‘Can’t Stop Loving You’ singer revealed in an interview with BBC Sounds that since his wife died, a part of him died with her, and things have never been the same. He stated: ‘I believed my world had ended when my wife passed away.’

Even when Jones’ popularity appeared to be clouding his judgment, Linda maintained his perspective for years. The singer couldn’t help but worry who would save him from himself now that she was gone.

He was fortunate to have his son Mark, who is now his manager, to keep him in check and assist him in processing the loss. Jones and Mark have a unique father-son relationship.

Jones has viewed Mark as more than just his son. The two have a personal relationship and work together professionally because Mark is his father’s manager. After Gordon Mills, Jones’ friend and manager, passed away in 1986, he assumed the role.

After putting out successful music in the 1960s and 1970s, Jones’ fame started to decline. Mark succeeded Mills as his father’s manager after Mills passed away. Jones was at the top of his game, once more showing the world his hitmaking prowess, when Mark, then 29, tried to resurrect his father’s career.

Jones worked with hitmakers like Jack White, Hugh Laurie, and Maniac Street Preachers and with better producers to record even greater songs. Jones will always be thankful for it. He disclosed:

My bond with Mark is quite special.

Jones claims that while he is appreciative of what Mark has done for his musical career, he is equally delighted that his son is pursuing a passion of his. ‘You know, he’s not only competent in his field. This is something he adores.’ He added.

But Mark also claims responsibility for taking care of his father in addition to managing his father’s job. Jones’ propensity to go out drinking has been consistently curbed by him, and he frequently catches Jones in mid-action. Says Mark ‘I complain constantly about his drinking. I know how much it means to him, and he is aware of my good intentions.’

Jones takes joy in being a grandfather to Mark’s two children Alex and Emma, whom Mark and his architect wife Donna have together. Jones is also one of history’s most well-known vocalists.

Many people were unaware of Jones’ dark side.

Jones became one of the most adored singers in the world after becoming famous in the 1960s. He used music to reach a vast audience around the world, and he won a lot of followers for it.

He had a dark side though, one that might harm other people he loved most—his son and wife. As his fame increased, so did his desire for extramarital romances.

Some of the relationships that were exposed were a rumored three-year romance with Charlotte Laws, a two-year affair with Mary Wilson of The Supremes, and another with Marjorie Wallace, who was then Miss World.

The ‘Never Fall In Love Again’ singer acknowledges having relationships with various women throughout his career, despite the fact that his marriage to Linda was not peaceful. He continues to insist that they stayed close and that she owned a special place in his heart.

His relationship with model Katherine Berkery, through whom he had his son Jonathan, remains his most widely reported affair. Jones initially denied fathering Jonathan, but a 1989 court-ordered paternity test established his paternity.

Following the confirmation of fatherhood, Jones consented to support the child financially until he became 18 by paying £1,700 per month. Jones only acknowledged his son a few years after he reached 18 even though he fulfilled his half of the contract.

Jonathan tries to connect Jones and his love child, but Jones is unwilling to do so. According to his love child, all Jones wants from him is a chance to sit down with him. Jones states ‘I had no intention of doing it. I was deceived. I gave into the seduction.’
