This young couple’s lovely ‘Sound of Silence’ cover has gone viral, amassing over 11 million views in just a few weeks.

Life has a funny way of working sometimes.

Did you know that ‘The Sound of Silence,’ one of the songs that has been covered the most frequently throughout history, was initially a ‘commercial failure’?

Yep. When the song failed to connect with audiences, Simon and Garfunkel disbanded shortly after its 1964 release.

Naturally, that was later modified. When the song gained popularity in 1965, producer Tom Wilson was inspired to rework it with electric instruments and drums.

In September of the same year, the remix was then made available as a single.

Unaware, Simon and Garfunkel.

The remix wasn’t made public until after the duo learned about it.Consequently, the song is still popular online all these years after.

This tune has been covered innumerable times, each time with a different artist adding their own flair.

Enter RocKwiz, a rock music-focused live television music trivia quiz program from Australia.

They would include a variety of live performances by musicians and guest artists in each episode.

In this episode, Emma Louise and Husky Gawenda performed a live rendition of the well-known song by Simon and Garfunkel.

The Sound of Silence was covered by them.

Emma, an Australian indie pop singer-songwriter from Cairns, offers a novel interpretation of the song because male singers were traditionally more likely to perform it. Mostly.

The lead vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist for the Melbourne band Husky is Gawenda.

He’s not just singing backup for Emma but also playing guitar on this song. And, as luck would have it, their blending is superb.

Their voices blend together beautifully.

Senior Larry Beavens made a heartfelt observation,

I’ve listened to both the original and numerous covers of this song hundreds of times. I’m 75 years old and grew up with it.

I have to admit that this is the song’s best ever cover, in my opinion. The delivery is flawless, the background music is quiet as it should be, and the vocals are stunning.

Here, the song is performed just how it was intended to be. Great information; thanks for sharing.

And what about that? Larry is 100 percent correct. They kept things plain and straightforward.

They paid respect to the original song.

They don’t overplay or fiddle around with the notes or the octave excessively. They merely perform the song as it was intended to be performed.

It has received almost 11 million views.
Ivan, a different spectator, says:

‘This song is the one that completely altered my life! Being Japanese, I first heard this song in high school.’

I began studying English after becoming fascinated by the song’s lyrics. I’ve been teaching Japanese people how to speak English for more than 30 years, and I’m now over 60. S&G, thank you. You are my all-time heroes!

They performed this song in a wonderful duet. They revived a 1960s classic while respecting the original intent of the song’s composition.

It’s a lovely way for one artist duo to pay tribute to another.
