Do we really want Dame Judi Dench to play the piano? A famous actor stunned the bar staff with an unexpected performance of an ABBA song.

Just before the ball dropped on New Year’s Eve in a bar in Scotland, a Hollywood legend shocked everyone by playing the piano and singing a duet with a local musician.

Hotel visitors were delighted by the dynamic duet performance of the well-known ABBA song ‘Waterloo’ by the acclaimed English actress Dame Judi Dench and the gifted Scottish singer Sharleen Spiteri.

Most notably recognized for her work in the James Bond movie Skyfall is the 88-year-old actor. She occasionally adds vocal flourishes while Spiteri handles the melody.

The viral performance happened at The Fife Arms in Braemar, Aberdeenshire, just before the New Year’s Eve fireworks show. On Twitter, it has gotten over 200,000 views.

We apologize to anyone who was surprised by Dame Judi’s apparent piano prowess at the pub; the piano in question really plays itself.

Because to her distinctive elegance and the way her fingers appear to float above the keys while she plays,

the national treasure makes an exceptionally convincing pianist. Come on, there’s a reason she won an Oscar, you know.

Mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnston quips, ‘She’s so amazing, she carries about a fairy to play notes on the piano when her fingers aren’t on them,’ in reference to the soprano.

Ewan Venters, the chief executive of Artfarm, the business that owns the pub, described how the partnership came about in an interview.
