Gus Bower couldn’t help but open up and express everything on his thoughts when it was his turn to speak at the reception for his sister Catie and her new husband Troy Hudson.
The boy’s moving ode to the newlyweds went viral after the wedding videographer posted a video of his sincere speech online.

‘I’m ecstatic to learn that the two of you were married today. Gus replied, ‘I realize I may appear a bit melancholy up here, but these are tears of joy,’ as he began to cry.
He continued, ‘Catie, I love you so much, and I’m so glad that you gave me a brother-in-law,’before saying, ‘I’m so glad you gave me a brother-in-law.’

Catie stood up after the speech was finished and gave her brother a bear embrace that was both lengthy and tight. Troy was driven to tears by Gus’s sincere words and was unable to control his feelings.
In expressing his feelings, the groom said, ‘Emotionally, it wasn’t something that we were necessarily prepared to hear.’

Gus claimed that he had no intention of speaking, but that the situation overcame him and he was compelled to reveal his true feelings. He claimed that the wedding ceremony was just inherently unique.
‘It’s just kind of magic. And most of my worries about them just sort of went away,’ Gus said. Despite having a
close to 20-year age gap, half-siblings Catie and Gus maintain an extremely close relationship with one another.

Given the number of images of her dog Gus that Catie has shared on her Instagram account, it is obvious that she has grown to love him.
On the occasion of her brother’s third birthday in 2015, Catie gushed about her younger sibling, calling him the ‘sweetest, brightest, and cutest’ child she had ever met.

Another image of Gus with the description, ‘If this isn’t the sweetest thing you have ever seen, then you’re lying.’
The two had been acquaintances at the University of Denver, where they both took classes, for several years prior to starting a romantic connection there in February 2014.

Troy proposed to Catie in June 2019 after they finalized the contract for their first home together.
Gus was worried about the possibility of his sister being married after learning of their engagement, as any good protective brother would be.
I was worried that she wouldn’t spend as much time with me as she used to,’he said, expressing his worries. I didn’t want to lose her in the end.

But over the years, Gus spent a lot of time getting to know Troy, and during that time, he came to
the conclusion that Troy was, in fact, a decent person. He was positive he would be a great husband for Catie.

Gus claims that the moral of his story is that we shouldn’t ever let the word ‘extended’ take the place of the word ‘family.’
