After 9 years, they opened the wedding gift that the aunt asked not to open

Everyone gives gifts to the newlyweds, there is nothing unusual about it. Someone chooses something useful, someone chooses something to their heart’s content.

But Cat and Burdon’s story is different. They got married 9 years ago but have not released their latest wedding photo.

The gift was given by the bride’s aunt, Alison.
Attached to the white box was an envelope on which was written

‘Do not open until the first disagreement” … they decided to fulfill that wish and left it on the shelf.

Of course, during these 9 years, they had arguments and complaints, like all couples, but they did not open the box, and for a completely different reason. Here’s what Kat said.

‘It is obvious that during our 9 years there were many disagreements, disputes and closed doors. There were even a few times when we both wanted to leave… but we never opened the box.

I honestly think we don’t want to open the box because it symbolizes our failure. For us, this means that something is not working in our marriage,

and we are both stubborn and determined to come to terms with it. So it made us reconsider the situation. Isn’t it time to open the box? What if it’s worse and we don’t have a box?’

Then one night everything changed. Kat and Brandon were able to put their two kids to bed and enjoy a glass of wine.

The conversation started about the upcoming wedding, which they were supposed to attend. They were animatedly discussing

what could be a present for the young couple. It was then that Kat remembered which gift had left an indelible impression on her.

The box remained in the closet for nine years. The couple hasn’t opened it, fearing there will be times in the future when they need more.

But that evening, as they talked about their friends’ upcoming wedding, they decided it was finally time to open the box.

Inside were two letters, one addressed to Brandon and one to Kathy, as well as some money. Buy a pizza, crawfish or whatever you want and enjoy.

There were also crystal vases, glasses, a towel, bubble bath and scented lotion. But it wasn’t so much the items that surprised Katie as the inner message. The box actually taught me patience.
