During Friends, Matthew Perry shared some touching details regarding his connection with Jennifer Aniston.

Although Matthew Perry initially believed Jennifer Aniston would be his finale, Chandler and Monica were supposed to be the final act.

Perry acknowledged that he once wanted to be more than just friends with Aniston and even went so far as to ask her out on a date before they even set foot on the Friends set.

Despite this, Perry and Aniston remain close friends. On October 28, Perry spoke with Diane Sawyer about his new

book, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, as well as the struggles of his friends and addictions.

In the open interview, Perry acknowledged that she had a crush on Jennifer Aniston, who portrayed Rachel Green in the popular sitcom.

‘How do you not care about Jenny?” Before criticizing the other Friends key characters, Perry started.

Courteney (Cox) is a possibility. Furthermore, ‘What about Lisa (Kudrow)? As a result, I found it challenging to go to work because I had to hide my crushes.

Perry reportedly asked Aniston out on a date because he had a crush on her. Prior to the two actors’ roles in Friends,

Perry claimed that he had the opportunity to take Aniston out on a date, but she declined, saying that she would rather just be friends. And that is exactly what happened.

Aniston acted when no one else would and was the first of Perry’s friends on set to talk to him about his addictions.

In his autobiography, he recalls her stating, ‘We know you’re drinking.’ He thought back to her concern for his health during a trying time in his life.

Perry wasn’t the only member of the Friends cast to have feelings for Jennifer Aniston. During the Friends reunion event on HBO Max in 2021,

David Schwimmer acknowledged, ‘The first season, I had a major crush on Jen.’ Ross and Rachel might have been real, but the two performers chose not to look into it.

At one point, ‘we were both crushing hard on each other, but it was like two ships passing in the night

because one of us was always in a relationship.’ We never went over that boundary. We held that in high regard.

The most heartwarming part about these tales is how Jennifer Aniston always put her friendships with Perry and Schwimmer above everything else.

The Friends reunion in 2021 served as proof that Perry and Aniston are still close friends. Although there is no longer a chance of a romantic relationship,

Perry’s recent interview with Diane Sawyer has fans questioning whether Perry’s obsession on Aniston

merits a section in Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing called ‘the one where she gets away.’
